Wadi Rum and Aqaba
We climbed around Little Petra, another community built into the rock. We were hard to please after visiting Petra, but we enjoyed the hands-on aspect of Little Petra.
Then we hopped in our chariot and were captivated by Wadi Rum.
The day finished in Aqaba where we got in the Red Sea. From the shoreline we could see Egypt, Israel, and Jordan. (see red star on the map below)
Too much vacation fun:
Just another day climbing sand dunes and drinking traditional Bedouin tea.

Trekking Petra
Visiting Petra was my favorite part of our Jordan trip. We spent the day exploring ruins and hunting for the Holy Grail. Petra was built around 400 BC, but only introduced to the Western world in 1812. The walk from the entrance to the Monastery at the back was about four miles, so we had lots of ground for discovery.
We enlisted some donkeys to get a better view.
The Monastery:
The day started by walking through a massive gorge.
We enlisted some donkeys to get a better view.
My backside has a limit for riding donkeys, so we had to work harder for the remaining sights.
Petra by Night at the Treasury:
Okay, now everybody go watch Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
