Raise Some Shell

Look who finally made it to Doha after hanging out in an East coast airport for 24 hours...our favorite red haired sibling.

Most people head to the beach during the sunny part of the day, but I have never claimed that we are normal so we took our guest of honor to the seashore in the dead of night.  No sandcastle building occurred during this beach trip because it was pure business.  We were there to observe turtles during nesting (laying their eggs).

Having science oriented friends proved awesome once again and we tagged along as a research team tracked turtles.  After the mother laid her eggs, the team moved the eggs into a protected area and checked that the mama was healthy.  Unfortunately we didn't see any nesting action, but we saw three beautiful turtles.

We added a lot of insight with our complete lack of turtle knowledge.  (I should have had a pet turtle mom and dad.)

We could at least attempt to hold the turtle while they collected tools to weigh and measure her.  These turtles were ridiculously strong.  She was sitting on a tire to make it harder for her to grip the sand and was still moving.

Then they swam back to sea.

The end.
