Omani Adventure

Today is a particularly exciting Tuesday for us.  Last night the Qatar Emir announced that he would be handing power over to his son. (click here to learn more) We received emails and calls around 8pm (or 20 as we are getting used to saying) last night declaring today a holiday and informing us that the office would be closed.  Happy Tuesday to all!

Our surprise holiday was filled with a good mix of fun and productiveness.  We were able to hit the ocean and catching up on some random tasks.  One of which was completing this post to fill you all in on our Omani adventure last weekend.

This is the story of eight people who flew to Muscat for the weekend to visit two friends. (And before you ask, yes I realize that it would have been easier for the two people to get on a plane and fly to Doha, but that isn't as much fun.)  Orchestrating ten people doesn't always go smoothly, but it was entertaining.

Our first stop was Turtle City:

Then we experienced something called elevation change.  We ventured inland to Nizwa (blue line on the map below).  Hello mountains, it has been a while.

Sprinkled throughout the mountains are forts used to protect territory while traders were traveling from the desert to the coastline.

It was a great first trip to Oman.  We look forward to returning.  Happy birthday Doctor Alli from us and our tonsils.
